Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged. It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

On 8 May 2024, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and EMA published a public consultation to seek public feedback on proposed legislative amendments to the Energy Market Authority Act, Electricity Act, and Gas Act. The public consultation closed on 5 June 2024. MTI and EMA received about 30 responses from the industry and public.
MTI and EMA appreciate the feedback provided by respondents. You may find a summary of the feedback received and our responses on the REACH website.
Update as of 15 January 2025:
EMA has extended the consultation closing date/time to 31 January 2025, 1200 hrs (Singapore time).
As part of Singapore's commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and meet our 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC), the power sector plays a crucial role in our decarbonisation journey. Over the next decade, new and repowered generation units will be required to enter the system to meet increasing electricity demand and replace outgoing ones as ageing power plants reach their end of life and are gradually retired. It is imperative that the new and repowered units use the best-in-class technology available and are as emissions-efficient as possible to help reduce the power sector’s carbon footprint.
Building on earlier industry consultations on the Emission Standards policy decision, EMA is consulting the Emissions Standards Code to guide Singapore's transition to cleaner electricity. The emissions standards will provide greater clarity for industry to plan and deploy new generation capacity in Singapore. Please refer to the consultation paper for more details.
