After selecting your solar installer, it is important to be aware of the regulatory steps required throughout the installation process.
A Qualified Person (QP) is a professional who is registered as either an Architect with the Board of Architects or a Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers Board. He must also have a valid practising certificate from the respective board.
Solar vendors typically include the engagement of a QP as part of their service. The QP ensures that the design and installation of the solar PV system are carried out properly and comply with all the regulations.

During the solar PV installation, a Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) will be responsible for turning on the solar PV system. The LEW will handle tasks such as applying for the required electrical licences and assessing the electrical connection requirements.
If the solar PV system has a capacity of 1 MWac and above, you may also need to apply for a Generation Licence and register with the Energy Market Company (EMC).
