According to the 2023 statistics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force , fires resulting from unattended cooking contributed to the largest proportion of fires in residential buildings.
Induction hobs, with their distinctive direct heating method without any open flames, provide a safer cooking environment, particularly for households with young children and the elderly. There are induction hobs equipped with built-in safety features that automatically shut off when cookware is not detected and/or when it reaches a certain temperature.
Using induction hobs also eliminates the risk of gas leaks which can pose a danger in terms of fire and health risks. However, it is still important to avoid leaving the hob unattended, regardless of the model.
