The Energy 2050 Committee, comprising experts from the private and public sectors, released a report with findings and recommendations for decarbonising Singapore's power sector and capturing economic opportunities from the energy transition.
The report concluded that achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 is realistic for Singapore's power sector. However, the Committee acknowledged there would be challenges due to uncertainties like geopolitical trends and technological advancements. The report includes scenarios of possible pathways to net-zero emissions by 2050 and offers signposts indicating macro energy trends to guide decision-making. In the report, the Committee also recommended strategies to maximise the power sector's chances of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
