No licence will be required for residential installations that are less than 1MWac. For non-residential installations and all installations that are 1MWac and above, you may need to apply for the Electrical Installation and Electricity Generation Licences.
An Electrical Installation (EI) Licence will be required for all non-residential electrical installations, including solar PV systems, with a load demand exceeding 45kVA. You will need to appoint the appropriate class of Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) to handle the electrical installation.
The LEW will assist to apply for the EI Licence. An Electricity Generation Licence will be required if your solar PV system exceeds 1MWac (measured in terms of aggregate inverter capacity at the point of connection to the grid).
The point of connection refers to the point where the solar PV system is connected to SP Group's substation. You may also refer to GoBusiness Licensing (search "solar") for more details on the solar regulations and licences required.
