To ensure the safe supply and use of electricity, the MCST of your residential property is required to engage a licensed electrical worker (LEW) to take charge of the electrical installation (EI) in the premises. This means that the LEW will need to carry out regular inspection and maintenance works on the EI, which may require electricity supply to the premises to be temporarily shut down for safety reasons.
The duration of the shutdowns is determined based on the condition and complexity of the EI, as assessed by the appointed LEW. The MCST and Managing Agents will usually take into consideration the duration of the shutdown and decide on the shutdown date before informing the residents in advance.
If you have any concerns about the scheduled disruptions, please discuss the possibility of arranging for backup power supply or an alternative shutdown date with your MCST and/or Managing Agents. This decision takes into account the residents' needs and the associated costs, ensuring that everyone's concerns are taken into consideration.
