In 2019, EMA and Shell Singapore signed a Memorandum of Understanding at EMA's Energy Innovation to nurture local startups. This would help them build capabilities in areas such as renewable energy, distributed power generation, and Energy Storage Systems. The partnership was renewed in 2021.
EMA and Shell Singapore have recently awarded local startup, Power Facade, to accelerate the adoption of Building Applied Photovoltaics.
Under the Shell Startup Engine Programme, participating local energy startups get to build up their capabilities through leveraging Shell's expertise and network. They also have the opportunity to apply for post-programme R&D funding from EMA to further develop their solutions.
