EMA Sets New Vision and Mission for the Future

24 Jul 2009
Media Releases 24 Jul 2009

EMA has set a new vision to guide its work in a volatile and rapidly changing energy landscape. The vision of "Smart Energy, Sustainable Future: reflects the need to be smarter about our energy choices, and to work out robust solutions that will endure over time. This will provide the basis for EMA’s strategic directions and for its mission of "forging a progressive energy landscape for sustained growth."

When EMA was formed in 2001, its main focus was to liberalise the electricity and gas markets, and ensure power system security. EMA’s mandate today has been broadened to include overseeing the energy market and enabling its growth. EMA will thus take on industry development and promotional functions, in addition to its regulatory and operational responsibilities. In view of these changes, EMA has updated its corporate statements to ensure their continued relevance to the organisation.
